Acceptable Use Policy
The short version
Build apps from content you have the right to use, that are honest about what they are, and that don't harm the people who install them. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
1. Content you must have rights to
Only package websites, files, names, logos and icons that you own or have clear permission to use. Don't build an app from someone else's website or brand without their authorization.
2. Apps you may not build
- Malicious software: malware, spyware, stalkerware, or apps that damage devices, steal data or take actions users didn't agree to.
- Phishing and impersonation: apps that pretend to be another person, company, bank, government body or app, or that collect passwords or payment details under false pretenses.
- Deception and fraud: scams, fake giveaways, misleading investment schemes, or apps that hide what they really do.
- Infringing content: pirated media, software or games, or anything that violates copyright, trademark or other rights.
- Harm to children: any content that sexualizes, exploits or endangers minors. We report this content to the authorities.
- Illegal content and goods: content that is illegal where it's offered, or that sells or promotes illegal goods or services.
- Hate, harassment and violence: content that promotes violence, terrorism or hatred against people based on protected characteristics, or that targets individuals for harassment.
- Non-consensual intimate content, or sexual content distributed in breach of the law or store policies.
- Covert data collection: apps that collect personal or sensitive data without proper disclosure and consent.
3. Misuse of the service
- Don't probe, scan, overload or attack the Service or its build infrastructure.
- Don't use build jobs for anything other than building your app, such as cryptocurrency mining or running unrelated code.
- Don't submit automated or bulk builds designed to get around limits or disrupt other users.
- Don't try to access other people's projects, build files or our private systems and credentials.
- Don't upload secrets you're not authorized to use, or put signing credentials in project files.
4. App store rules
If you publish an app, it must also follow the rules of the store you publish it in, including the Google Play Developer Program Policies. An app that's allowed here may still be rejected by a store.
5. Enforcement
We may refuse or cancel builds, remove content, and suspend or end access to the Service if we believe this policy has been broken. Where the law requires it, or where there's a risk to someone's safety, we may report activity to the authorities. Where it's reasonable, we'll explain what we did and why.
6. Reporting abuse
If you believe an app built with instApped breaks this policy or infringes your rights, email [email protected] with the subject "Abuse report." Include the app name, package ID or store link, and what you believe is wrong. For copyright or trademark complaints, include your contact details, the work or mark involved, and a statement that you are the owner or authorized to act for them.
